Approaches to Counseling
I use a variety of approaches in helping others including cognitive behavior therapy, EMDR, interpersonal therapy and other empirically validated approaches. Most importantly, I consider the individual (s) that I work with as intrinsically valuable and strive towards a strong therapeutic relationship.

About Me
Dr. Brian Clemmons is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington and a licensed professional counselor in the state of South Carolina. Dr. Clemmons has been in the field of mental health since 1999. He received a Bachelors degree in counseling/psychology from San Diego Christian College in San Diego, CA. He holds a Master of Arts degree in professional counseling from Liberty University and has earned a Ph.D. in general psychology from Grand Canyon University.
Prior to working in private practice, Dr. Clemmons worked with several human service and community counseling agencies in the greater Seattle area and the Tri-Cities.
Dr. Clemmons specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families. With couples, he uses Gottman Couples Therapy, an approach that is based on empirical data from decades of research on thousands of couples. Dr. Clemmons conducted his published dissertation research on the topic of gender differences in forgiving infidelity. Dr. Clemmons counsels others with issues ranging from depression, anxiety, stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive and compulsive issues, anger, and interpersonal struggles. He works with children (ages 10 and up) adolescents and their parents. Dr. Clemmons has presented various workshops and classes on depression, stress and anxiety, anger, forgiveness and reconciliation, and parenting.
Dr. Clemmons approach to patient care is characterized by empathy, warmth, compassion, and flexibility to the experiences and backgrounds of others. He considers the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of each patient’s issues. Dr. Clemmons has been married to his wife Candy since 1996 and together they have four children.

The benefits of teletherapy are many. Teletherapy provides easy accessibility to therapy from the comfort of your own home or office. Teletherapy thus, provides flexibility and is extremely efficient for those who do not want or are not able due to a disability to commute to an office and wait in a waiting room. Teletherapy also provides safety for those who struggle with anxiety or other mental health issues.
